The RINGO Awards are an annual awards ceremony, hosted by the Baltimore Comic Con, that celebrates the best in the comic book industry. The ceremony is named in honor of my brother in art and former Tellos collaborator, the late Great Mike Wieringo. The physical award incorporates original Tellos cover art from volume 2 of the Mike Wieringo Tellos Tribute by Mike, myself and Paul Mounts.
I had the honor of being a judge and presenter for the second annual RINGO awards, held on September 29, 2018 at the Baltimore Comic Con.
I presented awards to some amazing creators. The best in the industry…

2018 RINGO Awards
An amazing moment captured by my good friend Dinco D from Leaders Of The New School. RINGO Awards after party with three of the best in the business. Sanford Greene and Chuck Brown won the RINGO Award for best webcomic, and longtime friend Mark Morales won for best inker. I don’t know too many people that work harder than these brothers. Me and Mark share 26 years of friendship, and I’ve witnessed the evolution of Sanford’s career from an exceptional penciler (90s era Heroes Convention in Charlotte, NC when we first met) to a creative force within the entertainment industry. Congratulations once again gentlemen. You definitely deserved the recognition.
And this guy…

2018 RINGO Awards
…I’ve known this talented individual for over two decades. We’ve collaborated over the years on mainstream & small press projects and have always had a mutual respect and appreciation for each others abilities. We were not only judges for the 2018 RINGO Awards, but also had the opportunity to share the stage as co-presenters at the ceremony. Gus Vazquez, we go back to the NYC days my brother! Much Love and Respect always.
And a big shout out to Randy Tischler, Shelly and Marc Nathan, Matt Merrit, Dustin Hovatter, Brad Tree, The RINGO Awards and the entire Baltimore Comic Con staff for making it all happen!
RINGO lives in ALL of us. Now and Forever.
